How to choose a Google Ads agency in Dublin
The money on this page
- The critical question
- Who owns the ad account
- Fee, and spend
- Two separate numbers. Ask which is quoted
- Percentage fees
- Reward spending more
- What you lose on exit
- The account history, if you do not own it
In one paragraph
Ask who owns the ad account when it ends. That single answer decides more than the other seven questions together, because an account you do not own takes your entire history of what works with it when you leave. Then ask about fees, exclusions, reporting, the named person, and what they will not promise.
The eight
Who owns the Google Ads account? You should. An agency can be given access to an account you own. If the agency owns it, then on the day you leave you lose every negative keyword, every conversion record and every month of learning about what works, and you start from zero somewhere else. This is the paid-search equivalent of an agency owning your Business Profile, and it is more damaging because the history is the asset.
Is your fee flat or a percentage of spend? Both are legitimate. A percentage rewards increasing your budget, so ask directly how they handle the case where spending less is the right advice.
What is the fee, and what is the spend? Two separate numbers. Some quotes bundle them, which makes the management cost invisible.
How often will you look at the actual search terms? Weekly is the right answer. Monthly means paying for searches that will never convert for three more weeks each time.
What conversion tracking will be in place before we start? If the answer is none, the account will optimise toward clicks, and clicks are the thing you are buying rather than the thing you want.
Which named person manages the account? As with any service, a name and a way to reach them.
What happens to the account if we stop? Access removed, ownership retained by you, history intact.
What will you not promise? A cost per enquiry before any data exists, a position, or a revenue figure.
Three answers that should end it
Agency ownership of your ad account as a condition of the work. A guaranteed cost per lead quoted before a single click has been bought. And any refusal to show you the raw search terms report, which is your data about your own money.
What a good first month looks like
Tight targeting, a small budget, conversion tracking working before spend starts, and a search terms review in the first fortnight rather than at the end. An agency that opens broad to gather data fast is spending your money to shorten its own learning curve, and should say so if that is the plan.
Applied to the publisher
SEO Agency Dublin publishes this and sells the service. Every question above applies to it. The network's evidence property records that the publisher's own company registration is unfiled, which is the sort of thing the fifth question on the network's supplier checklist would catch.
